^liam

Man of mystery. Man who sees all, knows all, remembers all.

^liam the seer, ^liam the prophet, ^liam the master of the unusual.

Gathered from many sources, we offer as proof of his wondrous powers,

these prophecies that he has made over the years.

(explanations in brackets)

Prophecies the First, predicted by ^liam in 1972:

You will see, great changes made,
Extreme horrors and vengeances:
For as the moon is thus led by the stars,
The heavens draw e'er close to the reckoning.

[Britain joins the EEC, Now the EU]

Beside the place of great joy and libations,
Great fire in the sky for three nights will fall:
A very stupendous and marvelous event will happen,
Very soon after the earth will tremble.

[ Birmingham managed to win a football match in 2001, and several pubs were torched during the riots]

The great drought which I sense approaching
Will strike fear in the hearts of the people as it covers the land.
It will be so vast and long-lasting that people will sink into

a great despair and be forced to drink water.

[There was a massive strike at the local brewery in 1990]

Prophecies the Second, predicted in 1992:

The gods will make it appear to the humans,
That they will be the authors of a great conflict:
Sword and lance before heaven is observed as serene,
So that on the left hand there will be great affliction.

[Labour wins the House of Commons]

Too much the gods make of the Androgyne procreation,
Near the heavens confusion reigns
Because of dearth of creative thought,

too late was a passable idea re-created,
and hopefully soon comes the awaited help

[The Graham Norton Show went on the air]

The voice of the unusual bird is heard,
In the pipe of the breathing floor:
Bushels of wheat will rise so high,
That man will devour his fellow man.

[Shopkeeper fined for selling in Imperial weights, 2001]

Prophecies the Third, predicted in 1997:

When the eclipse of the Sun will then be,
The monster (divine omen) will be seen in plain daylight:
Quite otherwise will one interpret it,
High price unguarded: none will have provided for it.

[The euro is accepted by most of the EU countries,2002]

A doubtful one will not come far from the realm,
The greater part will not want to support him:
A Capitol, will not want him to rule at all,
His great burden he will not be able to maintain

[George W. Bush declared President of the USA, 2000]

Northern wind will cause the siege to be raised,
Over the walls to throw ashes, lime chalk and dust,
Through rain afterwards, which will do them much harm,
Meanest assistance against their frontier.

[Dix visits Oxford, 2001]

Since the income for a professional seer isn't that great, ^liam has turned to  a couple of sidelines to stay solvent.  For a nominal fee, he will sell spells and potions to a select clientele.  As a favor, we have printed a partial price list:

He will also perform magic tricks at children's parties, and his balloon animals are ace!  Check your local yellow pages for his ad.
