A Few of my Favorite Sites and Some of my Favorite People

Some of you have had the privilege of  being in the EMW Paltalk room when it was still running.  There has yet to be as good a Paltalk teacher as CC (CarolindaCool)!!  We started revising the English "lessons" on the EMW web site, but life got in the way, so they haven't all been finished yet.  This is CC's website:  EnglishMistakesWelcome.com

One of my best friends--dixen, who is featured in Travels with Dixen on this site--was working on a project to empower the women of Zambia by providing female condoms free of charge.  (The average life expectancy there is 38--in no small part due to the rapid and extensive spread of AIDS).  She has since broadened this project to  adopt an entire village in Zambia.  This isn't a big-money charity, but one person at a time donating what they can--money or goods--to help those villagers improve their quality of life even a little bit.  Here is dixen's website:  Helping Hands

I met FlowerBarb about six years ago and was drawn to her passion for life, her desire to help others, and her bawdy sense of humor  (okay, I admit it.  The bawdy humor was the biggest draw.)  She is a marvelously creative person and runs a flower and gift shop in my little town.  This is her website:  Everlastings by Barb

I am not a huge fan of most blogs, but I ran across this one and I am hooked.  It is not labeled "For Women Only", but I think only women will really appreciate it.  Dooce.com

Some other favorite sites in no particular order at all:

The Animal Rescue Site-- Feed an Animal in Need

Stop, You're Killing Me!  ( a directory of old & new mystery books)

War Poetry Online (I didn't list any other poetry sites because they don't even begin to explore a poet's works.  This site however is a bit different, and not something you could ordinarily find on a site.)

E-cards by Jacquie Lawson (absolutely beautiful cards and worth the small yearly fee)

Wicked Moon (more cards--not all of them for the delicate of nature)

Come on--confess.  We have all been taken in by a smooth talker one time or another.  These sites could be subtitled:  I wish I knew then what I know now!!!

Date Safe Red Flags, Odd Behavior Exhibited by Your Date, Liars and Cheaters

A broken heart is bad enough, but losing money adds insult to injury!  Please, look at these sites before you pledge your all!!!

 ROMANCE SCAMS

Welcome to the 419 Eater

Urban Legends and Folklore  (Don't believe everything you read in an e-mail!  Check out this site)

Frog Store Gift Catalog

Alan Titchmarsh  (Gardener, writer, TV star, all-round sexy little dude.  I love this man!)

Sweet Chilli Sauce (One man's answer to those Nigerian e-mail scams)

Welcome to the White House (wickedly funny site)

The Spoof

Mental Soup (I know some think I am a bit weird, but this site cracks me up)

Thanks to the friends who let me link to their sites, and I will be adding more as soon as I track down more friends and twist their arms.
