Phrases that don't change

(binomials & trinomials)

to Learning English

There are thousands of root words in English.  These words come from many languages, but Latin and Greek are the origin of many of them.  The “root” is the core of the word.  You can add prefixes and suffixes to a root and create many different words.  You can often determine the meaning of a word if you know the root and the meaning of any affixes (i.e., prefixes and suffixes).  Sometimes it is hard to tell the difference between a prefix and a root word.  In researching this list, I found several of the same words categorized as both things.
